科学技术史是关于科学技术的产生、发展及其规律的科学。科学技术史既要研究科学技术内在的逻辑联系和发展规律，又要探讨科学技术与整个社会中各种因素的相互联系和相互制约的辩证关系。因此，科学技术史既不是一般的自然科学，也不同于一般的社会历史学。它是横跨于自然科学与社会科学之间的一门综合性学科。科学技术史是理学的一级学科，科学技术史的研究范围主要涉及理、工、农、医四大学科门类，但是又不仅仅局限于自然科学领域...
中国科学技术史学会成立于1980年10月。其会员主要来自高等院校和科研机构的研究者以及在读的研究生等。下设数学史、物理学史、化学史、天文学史、地学史、生物学史、农学史、医学史、技术史、金属史、建筑史、综合史、地方科技史志、少数民族科技史、科学史教育、咨询工作委员会等28个专业委员会和传统工艺、计时仪器史2个研究分会。
亚洲医学史学会（以下称本学会）于2001年 7月成立。当时一群来自亚洲各地的医学史学者在京都的国际日本文化研究中心聚会，决定组织一个纯学术、非营利的机构，在亚洲各国提倡医学史研究。研究课题包括亚洲及其他地区关于医学、公共卫生、牙科、药学、护理、乃至相关之艺术与科学学门的历史。成立宗旨在于促进亚洲各国医学史学者之间的国际合作与学术交流，并担任这些学者和世界其他医学史研究机构之间的桥梁。
