2022年12月21日，欧盟知识产权局（EUIPO）证实，英国超市Iceland Foods在其备受瞩目的欧盟商标战中败北。EUIPO大上诉委员会（GBoA）认为，虽然没有什么可以阻止将国家名称注册为商标，但应谨慎评估这些名称的注册。在于12月15日作出但于2022年12月21日公布的决定中，GBoA称它特别注意到冰岛是欧洲经济区的一个成员，与欧盟有着深厚的经济、历史和社会文化联系。
