武汉大学口腔医学院2007年4月24日正式启动“口腔种植修复全球合作伙伴项目”。该项目成员包括美国纽约大学、加州大学洛杉矶分校，加拿大多伦多大学，澳大利亚悉尼大学以及中国香港大学、北京大学、武汉大学等5所中国大学的口腔医学院等全球16所著名大学的牙学院和口腔医学院。口腔种植修复是目前最先进的牙缺失修复手段，该项目旨在全球范围内推广这一先进技术、培养优秀的种植修复医生以及共同推进种植技术的发展。

武汉大学口腔医学院樊明文教授，在2007年4月5日结束的泛亚洲太平洋地区国际牙科研究学会（IADR）会议上被选为主席，这是中国人第一次担任该学会的主席。会议还决定2009年度IADR会议在武汉举行。国际牙科研究学会第85届年会于3月底在美国新奥尔良市举行。据悉，目前IADR是世界上最大的牙科学术研究者的社团，共有会员1万余人。
