2023年9月25日，万建民院士团队在The Plant Cell在线发表了题为“A CYP78As–SMG4–COPⅡpathway promotes grain size in rice”的研究论文。该团队在水稻中鉴定到一个调控水稻籽粒大小的关键因子SMG4，并阐明其分子机制，为水稻粒型改良提供了新的基因资源。
