提要：语际翻译是跨语言交际活动,更是跨文化交际活动；译者不但要注重语言，更要注重语言所载负的文化。比喻词作为民族语言的结晶，有着丰富的文化内涵。如何处理文学作品中的比喻词往往是译者必须面对的难题之一。在译文读者的接受习惯与原文的精神风貌之间，译者必须有所抉择。本文拟从英汉文学作品中的比喻词入手，剖析归化法和异化法在比喻词翻译的不同效果，探讨两者对跨文化交际和文化移植的作用，以及译者应采取的策略。
