Rise In Severity Of Hottest Days Outpaces Global Average Temperature Increase(图)
Hottest Days Outpaces Global Average Temperature Increase
2018/2/1
While our planet’s average annual temperature has increased at a steady pace in recent decades, there has been an alarming jump in the severity of the hottest days of the year during that same period,...
Warmer World May Bring More Local, Less Global,Temperature Variability(图)
warmer world more local less global temperature variability
2017/9/19
Many tropical or subtropical regions could see sharp increases in natural temperature variability as Earth’s climate warms over coming decades, a new Duke University-led study suggests. These local cha...
Study finds extreme temperature anomalies are warming faster than Earth's average
extreme temperature anomalies warming faster Earth's average
2014/12/30
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- It’s widely known that the Earth’s average temperature has been rising. But research by an Indiana University geographer and colleagues finds that spatial patterns of extreme temp...
Tree ring-based February–April temperature reconstruction for Changbai Mountain in Northeast China and its implication for East Asian winter monsoon
February–April temperature Northeast China Changbai Mountain winter monsoon
2009/12/3
Long-term climatic records are scarce in the northeast Asia for understanding the behavior of the East Asian Winter Monsoon. Here we describe a 250-year February–April temperature reconstruction (TCBM...
Last nine-thousand years of temperature variability in Northern Europe
temperature variability Northern Europe global warming
2009/12/3
The threat of future global warming has generated a major interest in quantifying past climate variability on centennial and millennial time-scales. However, palaeoclimatological records are often noi...
Recent climate change in Japan – spatial and temporal characteristics of trends of temperature
climate change Japan temporal characteristics
2009/12/3
In this paper temperature series of Japan were statistically analysed in order to answer the question whether recent climate change can be proved for Japan; the results were compared and discussed wit...
Simulations of climate effects on water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and ice and snow covers in lakes of the contiguous U.S. under past and future climate scenarios
Simulations of climate effects on water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and ice and snow covers in lakes of the contiguous U.S. under past and future climate scenarios
2014/4/17
Daily water temperature, dissolved oxygen (DO) profiles, and ice and snow covers (where applicable) were simulated for 27 types of small lakes (up to 10 km2 surface area) at 209 locations in the conti...
A century of temperature variability in Lake Superior
temperature variability Lake Superior
2014/4/21
A 100-yr-long time series of water temperature measured just downstream of Lake Superior is used to produce proxy time series of open-lake temperature. This analysis suggests that open-water Lake Supe...
A timescale analysis of the Northern Hemisphere temperature response to volcanic and solar forcing
timescale analysis Northern Hemisphere temperature response
2008/11/12
The Northern Hemisphere temperature response to volcanic and solar forcing in the time interval 1000–1850 AD is studied using first a set of simulations with an intermediate-complexity climate model, ...
Past temperature reconstructions from deep ice cores: relevance for future climate change
deep ice cores future climate change
2008/11/11
Ice cores provide unique archives of past climate and environmental changes based only on physical processes. Quantitative temperature reconstructions are essential for the comparison between ice core...

2008/11/11
The Northern Hemisphere temperature response to volcanic and solar forcing in the time interval 1000–1850 AD is studied using first a set of simulations with an intermediate-complexity climate model, ...
Paleoclimatic reconstructions in western Canada from boreholetemperature logs: surface air temperature forcing and groundwater flow
paleoclimatic western Canada boreholetemperature
2008/11/10
Modelling of surface temperature change effect on temperature vs.~depth and temperature-depth logs in Western Canada Sedimentary Basin show that SAT (surface air temperature) forcing is the main driv...
Variations in air and ground temperature and the POM model: results from the Northern Hemisphere
ground temperature POM model Northern Hemisphere
2008/11/7
The POM model for comparing air and ground temperatures is based on the assumption that surface air temperature (SAT) records provide a good prediction of climate induced thermal transients in the sh...
Millennial temperature reconstruction intercomparison and evaluation
Millennial evaluation
2008/11/7
There has been considerable recent interest in paleoclimate reconstructions of the temperature history of the last millennium. A wide variety of techniques have been used. The interrelation among the ...
